Edit Field to Clean It Up
Posted by Linda on 12 February 2008 05:38 PM
This simple code will work to clean up a field. This is sometimes necessary if you find that importing has accidentally written hidden characters to a field, such as a newline character.

This example writes back to the Debtor Address field.

First, tag all debtors that you want to clean up. Then print this report to ALL.

@varAddress* = ""
@varBlank* = ""
@varAddress = = @varBlank = @varAddress

The address is stored in a variable. Then the address field is blanked out with the @SET command and rewritten with the @EDIT command. This writes back only valid characters and cleans up any hidden newline characters.
